Shibari, Kunst und Performance – die Welt von BoundToBond
Originalinterview in englischer Sprache
Wir haben die Bondage Performer Kanso & Blue von BoundToBond.com zu einem exklusiven Interview eingeladen, uns Einblicke in ihre Bondagewelt zu geben. Hier in der Originalversion in Englisch …
Can you explain SHIBARI in a few words?
On your website boundtobond.com you present your pics and also your activities. What was the most exciting event so far? and why?
Performing at Symbiosis Festival, to a crowd of hundreds, most of whom had never seen Shibari before, and feeling their response, as Blue was lifted up in an intense suspension almost 30 ft. above the stage; this was a rather surreal moment. We always love the opportunity to share Shibari where someone may least expect to see it (for example, festivals and art galleries). This tends to be a very provocative and evocative context. We also have deeply enjoyed being a part of the rope community in San Francisco for the last 5 years, and watching how a community can evolve around this beautiful art form, at classes, events, street fairs, rope jams, etc.
Short look to the future: Which projects and events are coming up?
We remain committed and inspired by our role as the resident Shibari instructors at the SF Armory/ kink.com where we take students through a year long curriculum from beginner to suspension. We will be traveling within the U.S. this year to continue presenting advanced rope intensives. And, we have several exciting art collaborations that we are currently working on……stay tuned!!!
For our german readers and Bondage newbies: If I want to start as model or as rigger, where do I get Information, what do I have to keep in mind?
Take classes locally with an experienced teacher, educate yourself on safety, consent and risk awareness, join Fetlife to find local rope groups and events, and also to peruse the countless images and writings on that site that will inspire and educate you, approach the rope with a humility that there will always be more to learn, and caretake the dynamic between rigger and rope bottom.
Thank you very much!

Shibari is rooted in Japanese SM culture; however, as knowledge and practice of it has spread internationally, it has become defined and interpreted in a great variety of ways, depending on the person tying and being tied.
For us, Shibari has been about the exploration of both the physical and emotional capture and process of a partner when engaging in rope bondage, always with a nod to Japanese aesthetic principles.
Is it a fine line between Art and Porn?
Shibari, to us, can be so many things: art, porn, sexual, sensual, meditative, connective, edgy, theatrical, therapeutic…..and yes, of course, sometimes the lines between these aspects are fine! It all depends on the intention laid out by the two people involved, and the impression it gives to its observer.
